Spencer Horning of the Kelowna Chiefs, Ethan Lawczynski of the Castlegar Rebels and Isaac Thomas of the Sicamous Eagles have been named the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Nov. 14.
Lawczynski – 1st Star- The Castlegar product earned three wins for his hometown team against the Nelson Leafs, Grand Forks Border Bruins and Beaver Valley Nitehawks. Along with going 3-0, Lawczynski stopped 91 of 96 shots for a .948 save percentage and a 1.67 goals against average. Lawczynski had a 36-save performance against the Leafs and 31 versus the Nitehawks. The week of work improved the goalie to four wins and a loss, with a 2.49 goals against average and .932 save percentage for the season.
Horning – 2nd Star – The Kelowna product had a six-point weekend, including a five-point performance against the 100 Mile House Wranglers, in which he netted the winning goal as the Chiefs picked up a split on the weekend after losing to North Okanagan. For the season, Horning has five goals and 17 points in 14 games, to lead the Chiefs. That total ranks him ninth overall in the league. Two of his five goals have come on the power-play.
Thomas – 3rd Star – The Vernon native collected points in two of the Eagles’ three games. Of the three points, Thomas scored twice, including the opener against the Summerland Steam. Thomas’ two-point effort came in a 9-4 win over the Osoyoos Coyotes. In 10 games, Thomas has two goals and five points, which leads the Eagles’ defence.
