The WIJHL is pleased to introduce Matt Holbrook as the WIJHL Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner for the BCHL.
As the BCHL’s Deputy Commissioner, Holbrook will oversee the league’s rapidly growing independent development system. One of his key roles will be as Commissioner of the newly formed Western International Junior Hockey League (WIJHL), which starts its inaugural season on Friday.
Holbrook, who resides in Kelowna, B.C., brings more than two decades of sports management, operations and organizational leadership experience to the BCHL. Most recently serving as Executive Director of the Westside Youth Soccer Association, he has driven organizational growth through strategic program development, corporate partnerships, and community-focused member engagement across Western Canada. His extensive background in sports administration includes 13 years with BC Soccer, where he served as General Manager of the BC Soccer Premier League, leading league scheduling, major event operations, and athlete development initiatives. Holbrook also contributed to professional club development with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC as its Youth Development Manager for four years.
