Head Coach & General Manager
Carter enters second year as the club’s new Head Coach & General Manager. Carter hails from Red Deer, Alberta, and has spent the previous two seasons working at the Junior A level. Last season Carter was the Director of Operations and Assistant Coach of the Estevan Bruins in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and previously was in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Virden Oil Capitals as their Sales Manager and Assistant Coach. Prior to his time at Junior A, Carter spent 6 years coaching with Red Deer Minor Hockey at the Bantam and Midget AA and AAA levels. An alumnus of Briercrest College, Carter also has coaching experience with Hockey Alberta at the Alberta Cup and the Alberta Winter Games.
Carter has over 9 years experience in both business development and senior sales management positions, and will be a welcome addition to the area.
Nick returns to the Castlegar rebels after previously playing here for 2 seasons, and winning the KIJHL Defenseman of the Year award during his 20 year old season. Originally from Prince George, BC, Nick is looking forward to using his skills and experiences to help develop the Rebels defensemen.
Stewart has worked alongside Head Coach & GM Carter Duffin for many years as an Assistant Coach at both the Bantam and Midget AA & AAA levels. Stewart has worked as a scout for Hockey Alberta at the Alberta Winter Games and Alberta Cup, as well as at the Junior A Level with the Virden Oil Capitals (MJHL) and the Estevan Bruins (SJHL).
James (JR) Ross
JR is back behind the bench for his 5 season as an Assistant Coach and has spent many more years as a highly valued supporter and volunteer for the Rebels. JR’s contributions to the team extend beyond the on bench as he also ensures all of the team and players equipment is well looked after and ready to go everyday.
James is a husband and father of two beautiful girls and has an adopted adult son in university. James is the lead pastor of New Life Church in Castlegar BC, and devotes his time to hobbies such as building motorcycles and exploring the amazing world around us! James role as Team Chaplain will have him spending time alongside the Rebels players to help them become healthy and upstanding young men in mind, body, and spirit, so that they can not only excel in hockey, but also change the world around them one interaction at a time.
