REBELS WEEKLY 16-17 Issue 1 (11-21)

REBELS WIN 7th IN A ROW!

The Castlegar Rebels were in action this weekend with two wins extending their current win streak to 7 games. On Friday night the high flying Rebels took on the Spokane Braves at the Castlegar Complex and cruised to a 5-3 victory out shooting the Braves 50-21 in a stellar all around team performance. Goalscorers for the Rebels were Daneel Lategan x2, Ed Lindsey x2 and John Moeller. Jesse Reeds led the way defensively with 5 blocked shots whilst picking up an injury leaving him out of the lineup for Saturdays clash against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, who going into Saturday held the best record in the KIJHL (16-3-1-0-1)

The Rebels rolled into Creston Valley on Saturday night with some familiar faces returning to the East Kootenays as six current Rebels players and Head Coach Bill Rotheisler have all spent time with the Thunder Cats in the past. The Rebels struck first as John Moeller flew down the left wing beating the Thunder Cats goalie with a sharp shot off the post and into the back of the net. The period would end 3-2 in favour of Creston. Despite being down after the first period, the Rebels found their jam and came back with three unanswered goals in the period and would lead 5-3 heading into the 3rd period of play, and it proved to be smooth sailing from there on out for the Rebels as they would add one more in the 3rd period to seal the deal on a convincing 6-3 victory in Creston Valley. Goal Scorers for the Rebels were John Moeller x2, Ed Lindsey x2, Chance Szott, and Nico Sidoni who scored his first goal for the Rebels!

Castlegar native Ed Lindsey had 4 points on the night including his 100th KIJHL point. The Rebels power play was hot in the game converting on 3 of 5 opportunities.
