Rebels’ Duguay joins BCIHL expansion Miners

Castlegar Rebel Justin Duguay has signed to play for the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League expansion team, the Logan Lake Miners for the 2022-23 season.

Duguay, an Edmonton native, will attend Thompson Rivers University while playing for the Miners. In three seasons with the Rebels, the 5-11, 160-pound forward played in 90 KIJHL regular season games, recording 34 goals and 76 points. He had 15 goals and 42 points in 40 games last season. In seven Teck Cup playoff games, Duguay had four goals and 10 points.

“I am excited to further my education and continue playing hockey at the next level,” said Duguay. “I would like to thank the Castlegar Rebels organization and past coaches and teammates in helping me develop and improve my game in order to move on to the next level in my hockey career.”

Rebels Head Coach and GM Arnie Caplan said Duguay is a player with impressive and unteachable, natural offensive skills.

“He’s a pure playmaker/scorer who should be able to utilize those skills well in the BCIHL,” said Caplan. “Justin is a very good student who has a bright future in whatever professional course he chooses and will be a great asset to the new Miners program.”
