LeSieur Commits to Liberty University

The Castlegar Rebels are excited to make their second commitment announcement of the spring, as Cedric LeSieur has committed to attend Liberty University and play for the Flames, in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). LeSieur was acquired in a trade from the Nanaimo Buccaneers in early October, and immediately helped backstop the Rebels.

Following the season LeSieur and the Rebels coaching staff helped him work through the process discussing opportunities with a number of schools. Rebels Head Coach & General Manager Carter Duffin, was enthusiastic while working with LeSieur to help ensure he found the right place to play following his time as a Rebel. Cedric came to the rink every day willing to do anything he could to help us get better. Through our ups and downs, Cedric helped lead our team, striving to see improvement in himself and his team mates daily. In addition to his skills in net, he brought a positive attitude and demeanor, and his excitement to contribute to the community (spending many evenings at the Pioneer with Castlegar Minor Hockey goalies), it was an exciting time to determine what program would fit him best. LeSieur made his way to Lynchburg, VA to attend their College For A Weekend; visit in early April and that sealed the deal, as LeSieur wanted to continue his education and hockey career with Liberty University. LeSieur will look to earn his ice time at Liberty as he will be one of two freshmen goaltenders for the Flames this season. While speaking to Liberty public relations, LeSieur spoke about the goaltending situation he was entering. We’ve had conversations with (Flames goalies coach) Dan Berthiaume who said both of the incoming goalie recruits will come in with a fresh start  LeSieur said. We will not be competing with each other. We are working together to help the team achieve success. That’s something I’ve done throughout my juniors career to take a team approach. It doesn’t matter who’s in the net. The other goalie has to be supportive and ready for anything. The Rebels organization would like to thank Cedric LeSieur for his service and would like to wish him the very best as he takes the next step of his hockey career.

Would you like to be the next player to have the opportunity to play and develop with the Castlegar Rebels, our Spring Camp registration is open, get all the details here!
