Arnie returns for his second season at the helm of the Rebels as Head Coach & General Manager. The Winnipeg native has an extensive hockey background, having played as a goaltender in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes.  He was recruited to play at St. Francis Xavier University, and after one season, transferred to Acadia University where he was a part of teams that made three appearances at the Nationals, and was a member of the 1993 National Championship Axemen.  Arnie obtained two degrees from Acadia: a Bachelor of Arts (with honours) in Sociology and a Masters in Sociology. In addition to his coaching and managing career, he spent a few years working as an adjunct professor in Tokyo, Japan. His coaching background includes NCAA Division I and Division III Women’s Hockey. He was named Minnesota Inter-Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year while serving as Head Coach of the Concordia College Women’s Hockey Program. Arnie also has experience as Head Coach/General Manager of the Chester Ravens of the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League and the Lundar Falcons of the Keystone Junior Hockey League in Manitoba. In 2015-16, he led the Portage College Voyageurs to the greatest season-to-season improvement in the history of the Alberta Colleges Hockey Conference (21 points). Arnie’s experience also includes time as Head Coach & General Manager of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL, and Head Coach of the Parkland Rangers of the Manitoba U18AAA Hockey League.  Arnie is also a Level 3 Hockey Canada official and has officiated games in all four western provinces.  His officiating experience includes the MJHL, and most recently the BCHL.

 

Nick Headrick – Assistant Coach

Nick returns to the Castlegar Rebels after previously playing here for two seasons and winning the KIJHL Defenseman of the Year award during his 20 year old season. Originally from Prince George, BC, Nick is looking forward to using his skills and experiences to help develop the Rebels defensemen.
