Goodwin Commits to Concordia University Wisconsin (ACHA D2)

The Castlegar Rebels are excited to announce the commitment of 1998 born Dallas Goodwin, to Concordia University Wisconsin (ACHA D2). Goodwin has played for the Rebels for the past 4 seasons, putting him 11th overall in Games Played; for the franchise.  CUW was in attendance at the KIJHL College Showcase in December, and Head Coach Brandon Richards was excited to have the opportunity to watch and meet with Goodwin during the event. Dallas is dynamic defenseman who can adapt to any situation. His vision and puck control make him a dual threat in both ends of the ice. Dallas will bring a very high skill set and motivated attitude to our CUW hockey program. The Rebels are excited that Goodwin is our first post-secondary commitment coming out of the 2018-2019 season and we are forward to more announcements coming soon. Head Coach & General Manager Carter Duffin was happy to support Goodwin through the process, Dallas had a great opportunity to learn and develop this season, both with his play and his leadership abilities, and took full advantage of those opportunities. He is a versatile player, playing both defence and forward during the season, and was one of our Assistant Captains this season. He was able to provide leadership in the room and set an example on the ice with his play. The Rebels organization would like to thank Dallas Goodwin for his years of service and would like to wish him the very best as he takes the next step of his hockey career.

Rebels Announce Main Camp for the 2019-2020 Season

The Castlegar Rebels have announced the details for its upcoming Main Camp for the 2019-2020 season.

The camp will be held Friday, August 30 through to Sunday, September 1 at the Castlegar and District Recreation Complex. Following camp, the Rebels will head directly into exhibition games the following week, allowing many players extended opportunities to earn their spot in the line-up. The Rebels are coming off of a rebuild season, which will see a number of strong returning players coming back to lead the Rebels this season. Head Coach and General Manager Carter Duffin says every spot still needs to be earned at camp. Our returning players will be expected to return with an extremely high level of preparedness, and along with any of our recruited or committed players, the expectation is every player in attendance will be expected to compete at a high level. Every player in camp (veterans, committed players, recruits) will have an opportunity to make our team, if they prove it, they will earn it. The Rebels will cap their camp at two teams to ensure the highest level of competition, and to give every player the opportunity to spend time and be challenged by the Rebels staff. Duffin notes that the camp will include fitness testing, practices lead by the Rebels coaching staff and intra-squad games, allowing players to showcase themselves to the best of their abilities in all aspects of the game. As a staff, we want to spend time and continue to build a relationship with all of our recruits during this weekend. We want to make sure they are the right fit for the Rebels program and our vision to move forward, which is not only on the ice, but their personal character off the ice and in the community as well explains Duffin.
